Another Evening of Tinkering

Monday 16 March 2015

6.00pm for refreshments and networking

SW101, School of Computing, Cornwallis South, University of Kent, Canterbury CT2 7NF

Following their successful evening two years ago, TinkerSoc (the University of Kent Tinkering Society) return to give another selection of short talks on various projects that they have been working on recently.

TinkerSoc is an electronics and engineering society, open to students from every discipline. Some of their most recent projects that have drawn attention to the society include: a valve-powered headphone amplifier, an arcade machine powered by a Raspberry Pi, working with conductive play dough, and more.

The format will closely follow their 'Open Mic Night' format - where individuals and the society will present projects that they have been working on (including how they built it). The talk is open to discussion, debate and advice. The talks will be given by the current committee and members of TinkerSoc.

There should also be an opportunity to see ‘The Shed’, the new Makerspace for the School of Computing. This contains much interesting equipment, including 3D printers, laser cutter, milling machine, and much more.

There will be a number of speakers, including a representative of the TinkerSoc committee, and some of their members.
