Internet of Things (IoT) is an exciting movement in the world of computing but is it possible to teach programming beginners the skills to be able to create their own hobbyist IoT projects? At the Mozilla Campus Club Birmingham, this is our aim. Come along to our workshop and learn to create a robot that can be controlled from a webpage.

Workshop contents:

  •   An intro to Node.js - a runtime environment for running javascript on a web server
  •   Raspberry Pi - a credit card sized computer that forms the core of our robot
  •   Using Input and Output from the Raspberry Pi to control a robot
  •   Creating a basic webpage to allow control of the robot
