IXLeeds 1

Thursday 16 February 2012, 1.30pm - 6.00pm

The Carriageworks Theatre, The Electric Press, 3 Millennium Square, Leeds, LS2 3AD

IXLeeds, is a neutral not-for-profit Internet Exchange Point (IXP) based in Leeds that provides a Layer-2 platform to connect and share IP traffic using BGP-4.

The peering point is the result of many years of collaborative work by many organisations. It grew out of a working group set up in 2008 to promote collaboration between operators in Yorkshire.

IXLeeds was launched in September 2010 in order to allow public peering in the North of the UK. It aims to help its members increase their network resilience and reduce overall traffic backhaul costs toward London.

The event is open to members and non-members, and is a great opportunity to find out more about the organisation, hear some interesting related speakers and network with other attendees.

The event has been split into two parts, the first section aimed at members and supporters. It will also be of interest to any organisations currently considering membership or joining our community.

The second section will be of interest to organisations who understand the importance of the Internet to their business and would like to know more about how IXLeeds are working towards ensuring a more efficient Internet for end users.
