Prince 2 Future Developments

Thursday 25 April 2002

Bill Duncan, Principal Consultant for Xansa Education and Training Division

Room HC025, Southampton Institute, East Park Terrace, Southampton

Organised by the BCS Project Management Specialist Group, Southern with the BCS Quality SIG and the Hants Branch

In this evening's lecture we will be looking at the content and timing of the evolution and development of PRINCE2 and what it means to you and your organisation.

What is PRINCE2? Opening with a short introduction and brief history of PRINCE's development, we will move on to a review of the underlying principles of this "best practice" project management approach.

Nick will then explain why, what many professional Project Managers see as a "perfectly good method", has recently been further enhanced to a level where it is set to become the international de facto business project management method.

We will then discover what has changed in the PRINCE2 Manual, i.e. the presentation, components, processes and techniques.

Finally, we will hear how these changes affect the PRINCE2 qualifications and, most important of all, how this will affect our business projects in the future.

Our speaker for this event is Bill Duncan. Nick works as a Principal Consultant for Xansa Education and Training Division. He has been a Project Manager for 20 years, mostly in the IT arena, and also as a Project Management Consultant and Trainer for 11 years with Hoskyns and Duhig Berry (now part of Xansa).

He is one of the reviewers of the new version of PRINCE2. Nick is a Member of the Project Management Institute, a Member of the Association for Project Management and is an Accredited PRINCE2 Practitioner and Trainer. He is currently assigned to the Implementation of an Investment Management Business Process for a major telecommunications company.
