PRINCE2 Practitioner Talk

This is a session introducing PRINCE2 and related methods to the unfamiliar individual. The methods will be outlined together with the large range of development routes for individuals who think that project management is one tool they need in their management or career toolkit. There will be handouts including a short self-assessment and a Personal Development Plan Proforma for completion during and at the end of the event. If other experienced practitioners wish to attend they will be asked to share their own experiences but this is essentially an event for those who want to start from square one.

Jill Dann is a Chartered Fellow of BCS and has been an Examiner in project management plus support roles since 1992 for ISEB and ACCA. She is a Registered PRINCE2 and MSP Practitioner and has recently been a reviewer for the APM's rework of its Body of Knowledge. As a Project Director, Jill has led teams (from 5 to 40-65) in a number of scenarios covering multiple workstreams since 1979 here and abroad. Spanning both the hard and soft capabilities needed to establish new organisations; Jill has overseen launches of new businesses and the establishment of Government Agencies introducing controlled change working in Barbados, Germany and NZ as well as the UK and Republic of Ireland. Her focus now is to develop the potential of others to take on such challenging roles themselves. Skilled in Executive, Management and staff development, Jill combines her IT experience with the broader psychology-based aspects of managing change for organisational development. She is a regular speaker for professional institutes covering HR, IT, Finance and Coaching topics.

Jill has helped many people to change organisations, get new jobs and promotions. She has a lot of experience coaching project and programme managers on their specific projects and helping them gain confidence and new capabilities. She can be contacted on

Speaker Biography

Sheila Roberts - Director of Training and Operations, CUPE Projects. Sheila spent 20 years working within the NHS undertaking projects and being among the first to qualify as a PRINCE2® practitioner. After a spell with British Forces Germany Health Services delivering Public Health projects, she became a PRINCE2® trainer and consultant, putting her experience into action helping others to improve project delivery. Her passion is helping others implement their projects successfully.

Sheila helped establish CUPE 10 years ago and has been very involved in PRINCE2® since then, including as a member of the change control panel for the 2009 version of the method. She has been a PRINCE2® examiner and remains a quality reviewer for examinations. Despite this Sheila has a firm belief that good project management is not about delivering a single method and has developed courses for PMP, Agile and Earned Value, as well as bespoke methods for companies. Sheila has also been part of the review team for OPM3 – the PMI maturity model and was the keynote speaker at the Slovak Project Management conference in 2010.
