Internationalisation and the link between software development and localisation

Malte Resin, PhD Research Student

When translators and software developers meet to localise a software product, two worlds with different perceptions of quality and work collide. Software development processes are naturally geared towards demands and requirements of programming, while peripheral work steps such as translation get less attention. This talk will discuss our research, where we look at causes and consequences of conflicts between software engineering and translation, and their impact on development effort and software quality.
