Position of Chair

Dr Tom CrickDr Tom Crick is a Senior Lecturer in Computer Science at Cardiff Metropolitan University, having completed his PhD and post-doctoral research at the University of Bath. He has been at the forefront of recent initiatives to promote and support the teaching of computer science in UK schools, as Chair in Wales of Computing At School (CAS). He has recently co-chaired the official review of the ICT curriculum in Wales and sits on the Welsh Government’s National Digital Learning Council. He has also advised the Office of the Chief Scientific Adviser for Wales and is a member of the National Assembly for Wales Cross-Party Group on Science & Technology.

Tom is passionate advocate for student and young professional issues within the BCS, having been Chair of YPG since November 2011. He is currently a Council-elected Trustee, as well as representing YPG on a number of boards and committees over the past three years.

Tom is standing for a full three-year term as Chair to continue promoting and supporting student and young professional issues and embedding them into future BCS strategy, as well as ensuring that the BCS are representative as a leading modern chartered society for IT and computing professionals.
