6.00pm to 8.30pm

This session will explore what Infrastructure as a Service (IaaS) means in the context of the UK Public Sector, what it offers to government, why and how it works and what the underlying trends are and their implications.

This will cover the development of the Skyscape Cloud Services’ new entrant business model, with a market entry strategy in a market dominated by a relatively small number of massive global giants. A strategy aimed at taking over the IaaS element of the value chain enabling the SIs to focus their time and resources on the other aspects of their business.

Although an SME and focused exclusively on the UK Public Sector, Skyscape Cloud Services has significant ambitions, which can be achieved through being smarter and more agile than the current incumbents and aspiring new entrants.

Phil is the Chief Executive of Skyscape Cloud Services, a company he founded with like-minded individuals in 2011. Following a period in corporate strategy and New Venture Development with GKN Plc, Phil set up a business to provide advice and guidance to start-up businesses in the US and Europe including taking minority stakes. In 2006, he led an MBO into MDS Technologies, a provider of secure hosting services, in 2006, which provides managed services and more recently, cloud migration for organisation seeking to deploy on Skyscape’s infrastructure. Phil has an MBA from London Business School and a Chemistry degree from the University of Sussex.

Skyscape Cloud Services provides assured cloud computing services for the UK Public Sector. Easy to adopt, easy to use and if necessary easy to leave, Skyscape is built on a partnership of world leading companies (Cisco, EMC, VMware, VCE, QinetiQ and Ark Continuity), which will transform the delivery of IT services into an elastic, sustainable utility. With more than ten system integrator partners and thirty ISV partners, Skyscape is now the market leader in the provision of IaaS on the G-Cloud framework and specialises in understanding how to apply government’s assurance needs (security, privacy, availability) to the development of cloud services.
