The role of the Chief Data Officer (CDO) is becoming increasingly common within organisations. It’s apparent that whereas the responsibilities are common to most enterprises, the relative priorities may differ according to industry and perception. However, there is consensus that without the management of data as a corporate asset, an enterprise will find their ability to efficiently and effectively exploit the resource for benefit will be limited.

For this presentation we are pleased to host Phillip Radley, the Chief Data Architect for BT, who’s role already overlaps much of the CDO’s responsibilities and so is very much immersed in the debate.

This session will look at how BT has developed in terms of organisation, process and infrastructure to address the current challenges around exploiting corporate data, including the deliverables from 5 years’ research and 2 years in production with Big Data Platforms. It will look at the Technical & Commercial Benefits adopting big data technologies and the stakeholders that need to be engaged.

After a presentation of the current CDO related activities and challenges at BT, the audience will be invited to participate in sharing their own perspectives and questions on the subject.

The event will be preceded by a short, informal AGM for the BCS Data Management Specialist Group.
